Why am I a Supporter?

Women's rights is a problem. As seen in the articles I posted, women are seen as inferior to men. I feel that in this day and age it's time we develop further and give women equal pay and equal job opportunities as well as to be given the chance to stand up for themselves.

I think right now everyone is exposed to this issue. Part of Obama's campaign included equal rights for everyone so it's a pretty hot topic. In my narrative I explain how many girls even at young ages are exposed to male superiority.

Through news reports it is clear that women's rights around the world are being worked on but there are still major obstacles. Especially for extreme countries that are against women such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. Those are issues that will take a long while to iron out. But for most other places around the world things are slowly looking up.

  1. Hi Lexis, I just have to say that I totally agree with everything you said in your blog so far. I can't either wrap my brain around how/why we are still having equality troubles. Yes, men and woman are very different but why should that stop us from equal rights? Just because we may be shaped a tad different doesn't we can't be as swift and accurate as men. And in some cases stronger too! I know plenty of girls that could take down some boys. Yet, that is not the point. The point overall is the respect part of it. Everyone wants respect, its human nature for goodness sake! As you mentioned in your blog, maybe if we were all raised right in a way where the phrase "make me a sandwich" wasn't so common, we could get to that treasured place of equality. And what I personally thought was funny is that I actually have been told by a boy to make him a sandwich Of course it was of a joking matter, yet if we keep joking about it, then a certain extent of truth in that statement makes it OK. And maybe if woman were expected to meet the same standards of equality as men, us woman could do even greater things with that extra push! Who knows.
